AstraNet Systems Ltd
Address: Newton Hall, Newton, Cambridge, CB22 7ZE
Tel: 01223 872197     Fax: 01480 330017
Contact: Ray Wood

Company Profile
AstraNet designs, manufactures and markets a full range of laboratory and industrial spectrophotometers. The range includes UltraViolet, Visible, Near InfraRed and Short Wave InfraRed instruments based on fibre-optic coupled sampling accessories with high resolution CCD Array detectors.

Using the latest fibre-optic technology enables a new and flexible approach to sample handling, with no need for a light-tight sample chamber, large or awkward shaped samples can easily be accommodated, while special holders for ultra-micro samples down to 2 microlitres are also available. With no sample chamber lid to keep opening and closing operation is faster and more efficient than traditional spectrophotometers.

Attachments are also available for Reflectance, Colour and Radiometry Measurements as well as Immersion Probes for direct Absorbance or Concentration measurement in bulk containers, while the basic instruments can easily be converted to Fluorimetric measurements with the 90 degree sampling attachments.

Using the latest 2048 pixel CCD Array in the UV and Visible instruments offers high sensitivity with excellent resolution across the wavelength range, enabling a full scan to be completed in less than 2 seconds, speeding up even the most complex analysis.

AstraGene is the latest product to be developed by AstraNet and is a UV/Visible spectrophotometer dedicated to the Life Science market; for DNA/RNA and Protein measurement. Needing only 2 microlitres of sample, which is automatically recovered following measurement AstraGene offers the fastest and easiest method for this type of measurement. Using the patented through-the-tip measurement principle, the sample never leaves the pipette tip, so its integrity is assured, while being protected from the carry-over or cross-contamination risked in other instruments where the sample is dispensed onto a pedestal or plate. Cleaning up between samples is also eliminated, giving AstraGene a naturally faster analysis cycle.

All AstraNet spectrophotometers are easily adaptable to unusual or difficult analyses, please contact us (www.astranetsystems.com) to discuss your special requirements and review our standard products.

Company Profile
Biochrom is a leading manufacturer of scientific instruments with over 40 years of experience. The Biochrom Group consists of five well known instrument brands covering UV/Vis spectroscopy, microplate instrumentation and amino acid analysis. Our products are trusted by hospitals and laboratories worldwide and we are a valued OEM partner of many of the world's finest scientific instrumentation companies.

The Biochrom spectroscopy range includes the Libra and and WPA brands. WPA is known for its great value UV/Vis and Visible spectrophotometers, cell density meters and colorimeters with a tiny footprint combined with the technical performance and analytical power of much larger (and more expensive) instruments. Examples include the scanning Biowave II spectrophotometer with built in methods for DNA, RNA,oligonucleotides and nucleic acid scans, or Lightwave Ultraviolet / Visible Spectrophotometer for general applications. The Libra range of spectrophotometers are designed to meet the full range of spectroscopy requirements for industrial, analytical and Life Science applications, from simple hand held colorimeters to full pharmacopoeia compliant systems.

Biochrom also manufactures two major brand names in the microplate instrumentation market - Asys and Anthos. These are regarded worldwide as one of the premier ranges of high performance microplate readers (absorbance readers) and microplate washers and shker incubators for ELISA and other microplate applications. All Asys and Anthos products offer laboratories excellent performance at a sensible price.

Biochrom is a world leader in amino acid analysis. The Biochrom 30 is recognised as the gold standard dedicated amino acid analyser used by hospitals, pharmaceutical and industrial labs worldwide. Based on ion exchange technology with post-column derivitization with Ninhydrin, it allows users to accurately detect and quantify amino acids and their derivatives in complex samples. Applications are available both for clinical analysis and screening of metabolic disorders, for drug synthesis, infusion fluids and for industrial applications in food, beverage and feedstuffs.

All our instruments are available through a growing global network of independent distributors, backed by our commitment to customer support. Biochrom is a Harvard Bioscience Company.
