Formation of the Health Protection Agency in 2003 brought together four of the existing UK culture collections, NCTC, NCPV, NCPF and ECACC:

EUROPEAN COLLECTION OF CELL CULTURES (ECACC)
One of the world's premier collections of authenticated cell cultures, with over 40,000 cell lines representing 45 different species. Along with a new range of Early Passage Cells and associated media.

NATIONAL COLLECTION OF PATHOGENIC FUNGI (NCPF)
The UK's only culture collection specialising in fungi pathogenic to humans and animals. The NCPF holds about 2500 strains, most of which are available for sale and distribution.

NATIONAL COLLECTION OF PATHOGENIC VIRUSES (NCPV)
Preserves well-characterised, authenticated human pathogenic viruses in a secure facility, and supplies the agents or nucleic acids derived from them to the scientific community according to national and international guidelines.

NATIONAL COLLECTION OF TYPE CULTURES (NCTC)
Supplies reference bacterial cultures of medical, scientific and veterinary importance world-wide to support academic, health, food and veterinary institutions. The collection comprises over 5000 bacterial cultures, over 100 mycoplasmas and more than 500 plasmids, host strains, bacteriophages and transposons.

The collections also support a range of identification, characterisation and testing services. HPACC supplies its microorganisms, products and services to both academic and commercial customers worldwide.

All of the listed specifications are tested to ISO STD 17025 and are accredited by UKAS.

Particle Size Standards
Particle Technology supplies a wide range of certified particle size tandards traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology including standards from Duke Scientific.

Component Cleanliness Analyser
Particle Technology is the UK manufacturer of the Component Cleanliness Analyser. A particle counting and sizing system used in various industrial applications to test the efficiency of aqueous and solvent cleaning systems. Component cleanliness is tested in accordance with ISO STD 16232 and ISO STD 18413:2002. We also offer the service of testing manufactured components at our dedicated laboratory at Hatton.

Particle Sizing Systems
Particle Technology distributes a range of Ankersmid Particle Size and Shape Systems using a the techniques of laser light obscuration and high speed optical imaging for both wet and dry applications.

Consultancy & Analytical Services
Particle Technology provides a range of services to companies that add value through outsourced analytical testing, troubleshooting processes and research and development.
