Company Profile We have developed molecular marker-based protocols for pedigree assignment and population discrimination in an expanding range of animal species.
The techniques can be used to trace or verify the origins of living plants and animals or food products derived from them.
Further, this technology can be used to identify specific genetic variants within populations, for example to detect GM products, to identify individuals likely to exhibit particular growth characteristics or other traits of economic importance or discriminate between individuals with reduced or enhanced resistance to particular diseases.
We have streamlined and introduced significant refinements into the process of developing and applying microsatellite and AFLP protocols for pedigree assignment and population discrimination. Genotyping systems developed for many species offer significantly improved resolving power over currently available techniques, allowing assignment rates of close to 100%
Moreover, the enormous number of samples processed within our laboratory has been a powerful incentive to find ways to cut costs whilst increasing throughput capacity.
As a result we are able to offer a contract genotyping service to any group needing to use these techniques, without the setup delays usual with a molecular based study and at a fraction of the cost that would normally be associated with this type of project
