Tel: 01462 814400     Fax: 01462 851004
Contact: Mr Cleve Wright

Company Profile
HORIBA ABX Diagnostics is one of the five major operators in the automated haematology analyser market. Employing 825 people, the company produces 6,000 tonnes of reagents and 7,000 automated systems, i.e. 25% of the global annual production of haematology analysers. This makes HORIBA ABX the leading manufacturer of haematology diagnostic instruments in the world.

As is evident from the variety of sites that utilise our technology, HORIBA ABX has developed an array of haematology analysers to suit all needs. These vary from high throughput systems that are the work horses of large NHS Trust pathology laboratories, such as the ABX Pentra DX120 SPS and the ABX Pentra 120 SPS, through to smaller highly compact systems frequently used in satellite laboratories and clinics, such as the ABX Pentra 60C+ and ABX Pentra 60. Other medium throughput analysers for the smaller workload but with a requirement for full automation include the ABX Pentra XL 80 and ABX Pentra 80.

Following our initial move into the field of biochemistry through the acquisition of the European MIRA business in 1998, HORIBA ABX launched its own range of clinical chemistry reagents in 2000 followed in 2003 by a new improved ABX Pentra reagent range. In 2004 HORIBA ABX demonstrated its increasing commitment to the clinical chemistry market with the development of our first chemistry analyser, the ABX Pentra 400. Introduced as the successor to the MIRA, the new system is yet another number one for HORIBA ABX since it is the first completely interactive biochemistry analyser.
